Wang Shicheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China National Light Industry Council and President of the China Musical Instrument Association, delivered a keynote address titled “Striving Bravely and Forging Ahead with Determination to Continuously Advance the Integrated Development of Technological Innovation in the Musical Instrument Industry.” In his speech, he provided a comprehensive and systematic review of the industry’s efforts in technological innovation and talent development over the past year. He noted that in 2022, the Association consistently prioritized technological innovation, advancing its work in a pragmatic manner under an overarching strategy of “dual‑pronged efforts and six‑pillar drive.” Specifically: first, the overall level of technological innovation continued to rise; second, the share of mid‑to‑high‑end products steadily increased; third, investment in major industry projects grew across the board; fourth, capabilities in standards development and patent filing improved markedly; fifth, the application and investment in digital technologies expanded in an orderly fashion; and sixth, initiatives to foster specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative enterprises saw substantial growth. He added that 2022 was designated by the Association as the “Year of Talent Development,” during which it systematically advanced a series of initiatives aimed at nurturing industry‑leading scientific and technological talents and master craftsmen of national caliber. These included organizing high‑level talent training, conducting skills assessments and certifications, hosting professional skill competitions, exploring the establishment of a “Musical Instrument Craftsmanship Academy,” and convening the Musical Instrument Studies Summit Forum. The Association pursued these efforts along three key axes: first, focusing on “high‑skill” capabilities; second, emphasizing “high‑quality” standards; and third, upholding “high‑standards” in all endeavors.
